Port Lockroy is an Antarctic historic site. It was the base of Operation Tabarin, established in 1944. Scientific work performed there included the first measurements of the ionosphere from Antarctica. The site has been designated a Historic Site or Monument (HSM 61).

While in Bagan, one might just as well make a trip to Mount Popa. This surreal volcano reaches 1518m above see level and hosts a buddhist monastery on top. The monastery itself is not particularly beautiful, but seeing it on top of that volcano is definitely worth the trip.
